An apartment for Christmas

Cath, our Next Stage Housing Co-ordinator, was thrilled that one of her clients recieved the keys for her own apartment before Christmas.

Cath was contacted some time ago by a lady who found herself homeless following a family bereavement. Having never been in this situation before she was unsure which way to turn. Cath suggested contacting the local authority but the lady was wary that this may mean she had to accept temporary shared accommodation which was something she didn't want to consider, preferring to sofa surf instead until something more permanent could be found.

Cath was able to find her a flat in an over 50’s scheme and, just before Christmas, she received her keys! Cath was also able to help her with her rent in advance through a gift through Acts 435.

The lady is very happy to have her own place again and everyone at Manchester City Mission wish her a very peaceful and happy new year.
