Another prisoner comes to Jesus through the Alpha Course...

We are currently running another Alpha course at HMP Buckley Hall in Rochdale, and last Monday (26th June) during the discussion time at the end of session three, one of the prisoners attending began asking some really deep, searching questions.

As the conversation developed it became apparent that this man, G, to paraphrase Scripture, was very close to the kingdom of God. As I continued to take him through the Gospel message, the Holy Spirit said to me very clearly, “Lead him to Jesus right now.”

Now there were five other prisoners in attendance and so I asked him if he wanted to pray and receive Christ as his Saviour and Lord with everyone present, and he said that he did. All the other attendees were also up for this (at least two of them of them being Christians already) and so without further ado I prayed with G and he publicly and very boldly gave his heart to the Lord.

He had been attending the CofE chapel services prior to this and says he will continue to do so. He also helped himself to some daily reading and follow-up material from our bookstall. He had been reading his pocket-sized New Testament and Psalms and upon his request I gave him a full-sized complete Bible.

Please pray for G. He has been in prison for many years and he is very vulnerable. Pray that He will come to know the Lord in a deeper, richer way and that he will go from strength to strength in Him.
