Is there any point in offering to pray with people?

When is it right to offer to pray with people? This is a question MCM missionaries face on a daily basis.

We told the story of how Barry Matley, who leads our Nourish project, and his wife visited a lady who struggled to leave home and had contacted one of our Food Clubs asking if groceries could be delivered. Barry and Janet took a bag of groceries and as they spoke with the lady picked up a Christian past and offered to pray.

Since then Barry had been in touch and the lady had explained that she had lost her faith many years ago having gone to Sunday School as a child. Barry was obviously concerned that praying with her had been the wrong thing to do.

Arrangements were made for second delivery and Barry knocked on the door with trepidation. He shouldn't have been worried, the lady asked Barry to pray that she might get great support to help overcome her difficulties in leaving home.

Isn't God good!
