Helping at a distance

Restart put young person from Oldham in touch with help while they are living in Birmingham.

Last week Restart had a referral from Probation for a young Oldham woman who is currently housed in a bail hostel in Birmingham. She had nothing of her own with her and needed to buy clothes and receive the loving support that the probation service knew Restart would offer if she was in Greater Manchester.

Michelle, who leads Restart, is an Acts 435 advocate, she contacted the Acts 435 head office and they identified one of their advocates in the area where the bail hostel is located. Michelle was put in touch with the advocate in Birmingham and they are contacting the young woman and going to help her.
