Making pizza for the kids using bagel bases!

Barry Matley, our Nourish Project Leader, has worked with churches to establish Nourish Food Clubs across Greater Manchester. Here he shares a story from the Food Club at Manna House in Bury.

Now here is a good idea that has come Barry's way from the Bury Food Club.

A Bury Food Club member, Y, volunteers to help asylum seekers with a local support group.

When she found out about the Food Club, not only did she bring a large group of asylum seekers to join, she also joined herself as she works part-time and her husband is unskilled and on a very low income.

Y also passes on tips for saving money with food and, for example, we had boxes and boxes of long-dated bagels and she took several bags, saying they make great pizzas for the kids tea.

Could your church support members of your local community? If you want to find out more about Nourish Food Clubs take a look at the Nourish Webpage.
