Coming alongside people is something Cath finds herself doing a lot of the time.

Cath is our Narrowgate Next Stage Housing Co-ordinator and works with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to find housing and to stabailise their lives.

Cath says...

Sometimes we are just there to come alongside and to be an extra voice in the conversation.

This is particularly true for people who are not born in this country and don’t understand the system.

Recently I have had two people who have come to me with housing issues. In both cases I haven’t got the ultimate answer to their needs, in that I am not a landlord so don’t have a property to offer them myself. However, what I can do is to be a listening ear and to point them in the right direction. In both cases I have been able to act as an advocate on their behalf and to help them find the way through what can be a very confusing sea of bureaucracy.

The Bible tells us to 'bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ’. This is a very practical way that we can do this.
