Nick made enquiries last year regarding taking on the role of volunteer prison chaplain at HMP Forest Bank in Salford, he updates us today on progress...

Nick takes up the story...

The chaplaincy team at Forest Bank assured me that they were keen on my offer, however, due to the Covid-19 restrictions that were in place in the prison they were not able to pursue the matter at that time. They said, however, that they would get back to me when the situation changed.

Out of the blue, I received a call on Tuesday 22nd March from them saying that the restrictions had been lifted and asking me if I would like to attend an interview. This was then arranged for the following day and I was given a warm reception by the managing chaplain. Indeed the team were very apologetic that it had taken so long for them to respond, although they had had no power over the situation whatsoever. Then after a discussion regarding my past experience and training, I was introduced to the rest of the team.

Finally, I was given a tour of the prison and it seems I will soon be going into Forest Bank on Wednesdays. This is now the third prison in which I can work and once again I thank God for yet another expansion to the chaplaincy ministry and more opportunities to share the love of Christ with those in need
