Someone has an argument with a donkey and loses!
Sounds like a description of the film Shrek doesn’t it! But no, it’s one of the examples that children have to consider whether it’s a story from the Bible or a film script during a Diary of a Disciple workshop!
Dave, who works in the office at MCM, volunteered this afternoon with Mary from Groundbreakers as she delivered a Diary of a Disciple workshop at a school in the centre of Oldham. Although Dave, who’s married to Mary, has heard loads over the years about these workshops this was the first time he had seen one in action.
He was amazed at the pace and content covered in the workshop. The children all, without exception, enjoyed the 90 minutes of stories, games, craft, drama, problem solving and puzzles. The children take away a mini-book containing the first three chapters of the book as well as their craft and a workbook. A copy of the full book is also left for the class library.
Dave had a great time and is looking forward to going back next week for the other Year 6 class. The workshop is a great way to introduce the Bible to children and tell some of the amazing stories of Jesus.
Perhaps you would like to volunteer to help out in a workshop, Groundbreakers have had lots of interest shown by schools and is always looking for help running them. Email Mary at Groundbreakers@ManchesterCityMission.org.uk if you would like information on how you can volunteer or support in other ways.
