Food club goes the extra mile

Brookhouse Food Club provides activity for the Summer Holidays

On Monday 31st July, Nourish Lead, Barry Matley, visited the Brookhouse Food Club and was delighted to see the club providing extra activities for families as well as sandwiches and goody bags.

Based at Brookhouse Community Centre, Buckthorn La, Eccles, the club is open on Mondays 12pm till 2pm and is a collaboration between Lighthouse Church and Manchester City Mission.

Summer holidays can be difficult for families on a budget. According to GOV.UK children are at risk of missing out on healthy meals, activities, and learning opportunities.

This means that the extra activities put on by the Brookhouse food Club are especially welcome at this time of year.

Barry said, “There was a wonderful atmosphere with everyone taking part and no one left out. Well done everyone for making a big difference to peoples lives”.

The Brookhouse Food Club shows that transformative things can happen when church and mission work together.
