From Drop-In to Rehab via prayer.

“…when I woke up on the Sunday all I could think about was going to church”

‘VH’ had met Ryan and Sandie from Operation Joy during their outreach work in Oldham. For the next three weeks he came along to the weekly Drop-In that Manchester City Mission runs in Oldham. ‘VH’ was open to Ryan praying with him and recognised this was making a difference to him.

After three weeks ‘VH’ arrived at the Drop-In and surprised Ryan by saying he had been off drink for several days. He went on to say, “Last week when I had been to see you I really felt a difference, then when I woke up on the Sunday all I could think about was going to church!”

‘VH’ then asked Ryan if he was able to help him be admitted to a rehab unit. This sounds an easy request, but Ryan was more than aware that the units are generally full. Ryan prayed for favour and rang a Christian rehab unit called Be-Strong. To Ryan’s surprise they had had a space come available that day, and they were happy to take ‘VH’.

‘VH’ is now settled at Be-Strong and Manchester City Mission will continue the relationship Ryan has established with ‘VH’ including helping find housing when he is ready.
