She was put in touch with Operation Joy and was so grateful for the help….
Ryan who serves in our Operation Joy Ashton Drop-in project was contacted by a lady that was struggling as her benefits had been sanctioned. This lady has gone through recovery and has been clean for over three years but felt like there was no hope.
The call came through to Ryan while he was helping out in the Nourish food club, Ryan tells the story.
“I was helping out in the food club when I got a call from a lady that had got my details from our Ashton Drop-in. The lady asked can we help as she has nothing, no food, no electric, no money. She also started telling me how she was due to visit her children that she hasn’t seen for a while. The lady began to cry as she had lost all hope.”
Ryan was quick to call on colleagues and resources that we have to hand. Barry from our Nourish project was able to sort out food and toys, a lady that volunteers donated £20, we were able to put £30 on electric for her and to top it all off we gave her a Tesco voucher for food.
Ryan took the package round to the lady and she was so pleased, she said “This has really restored my Faith back into humanity!”
Ryan was able to pray with the lady and we are now supporting her through the Ashton Drop-in.
