“I'm Trying to be a Christian”.

Simply Surrender To The Lord!

Last week in my Wednesday Bible group in HMP Forest Bank, one of my guys brought his cell mate along. He was aware that this young man was reading his Bible avidly and wanted to know more. I asked him if he had given his heart to Jesus and he replied “Well, I am trying to be a good Christian.” He was very familiar with many passages of Scripture but had never actually had a personal encounter with Christ.

The study I brought that day was about looking to the Lord and putting our trust in Him. As I drew it to a close, I pointed out that there is only one man who can live the Christian life and His name is Jesus and what He wants from us is to “die” to our self effort, get out of His way and let Him come and live His life in us! He was visibly relieved at the thought of simply surrendering to the Lord and responded immediately when I suggested I lead him in prayer to receive Christ as his Saviour.

He has now been added to the list for chapel attendance. Please pray for “A” as he continues in his Christian walk.
