When everything is not as it seems and all you can do is pray...

I had seen J a few times in the town centre, and everything seemed okay with her...

...but it became evident that she was in a desperate situation.

She explained that she wanted prayer as her year-old baby had to be adopted. This had come about because of the behaviour of her partner; she also had to move house for the same reason. J asked me to pray with her there and then even though some of her mates were telling her to hurry up. She pointed out to them bluntly that I was praying with her.

J went on to show me pictures of her baby, and of course, she was very tearful.

I said I would continue to pray for her.

J indicated that she does sometimes go into church to pray as well.

All this was happening to her, and it was Mother's Day...
