Girl flees family dispute and receives freedom in Christ.
Ryan, who works on the Operation Joy project, also acts as resident evangelist at the Nourish Family Food Fayre food clubs at the Windsor Christian Centre in Salford.
Towards the end of Food Club recently, Ryan was cleaning down and was about ready to shut the door, when a lady he knew appeared with a young woman. The young lady wanted to know if she could use the Food Club.
After using the Food Club, a conversation started with Ryan. The young lady began to tell her story saying, “I have been questioning the religion I have been brought up in, I have always thought it didn’t feel right, so I have fled from the family home.” Ryan began to tell her about the Love of God, and that God wants a relationship with us, so much so that he sent his Son to die for our sins (John 3:16). Sharing Psalm 139:14 and Jeremiah 29:11, he went on to show her that she is not a mistake, rather that she has been fearfully and wonderfully made and that God has a plan and a purpose for her life.
The young lady looked pleased, and said, “I have never heard anyone talk about God like this!”
Ryan continued to explain the Gospel focussing on Romans 6:23 where we read “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The young woman began to weep and confess her sins as Ryan explained that there is a consequence for our sinful ways. The girl went on to ask, “How do I know this God that loves us so much, how do I have a relationship with him myself?”
Believing she was ready to receive Christ, Ryan then led the girl in a prayer of repentance and prayed for her to be filled with the Holy Spirit. When he had finished praying, she said that it felt as if electricity had run through her body and that she felt light. It was clear that she had met with God.
Ryan gave the lady a Bible and suggested that she start by reading John’s Gospel. He also talked about how to pray and invited her to the New Life Group that meets at the Windsor Christian Centre on a Friday.
We will continue to support this lady on her new journey and keep you updated. Please will you pray for her to become grounded in her new faith and for her wellbeing.
