Now Operation Joy has a Drop-In in Oldham too...

It quickly became apparent when the Restart Drop-In opened in Oldham recently that the men experiencing homelessness in Oldham needed a regular place for support as well.

Operation Joy have now opened a homeless drop-in centre in Oldham. We already have a project running in the town called Restart, which deals with vulnerable women, but as this project has started to grow, we could see there was a need for someone to deal with the men that were turning up. It became very apparent that there was a need for Operation Joy to have a permanent place in Oldham.

In the short time we have been in Oldham, Operation Joy has helped two men to find permanent accommodation, we have helped two men get into Rehabilitation for drugs and alcohol addiction, and we have seen three people make a decision to follow Jesus Christ.

At Manchester City Mission we believe in supporting people straight through their decision to make a change, and we are standing with all these gentlemen on their new journeys.

Having operated in Oldham for a few weeks we have now found a permanent location to have the drop-in centre, we will be using the upstairs hub at Soul Café. Soul Café is a very friendly Christian café shop, just outside the town centre on Yorkshire Street, Operation Joy is now here every Friday from 10am-2pm.
