New people keep coming along to the Operation Joy Drop-In in Oldham town centre. One man stayed behind the first time he came to speak with Ryan...

The Drop-In is a place for the men to talk about the issues that trouble them and to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Three new people came along to the Drop-In last week.

Ryan said, “There was a real presence of God as we were praying and reading Mark 8.”

Ryan finished the session and one of the men, J, stayed behind and asked about rehabilitation. As he spoke with Ryan he opened up about how his life was a mess and how he wanted to change; he said that he felt like he was a mistake. Sharing from the Bible, Ryan showed him that God has a plan and a purpose for his life (Jeremiah 29:11), and told him he has been fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Ryan said you could see that the Word of God was having an impact on J.

Ryan carried on explaining how God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son to die for our sin (John 3:16). Ryan talked to J about the condition of the human heart and of the need for repentance. J wanted to give his heart to the Lord and praying received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

Ryan has since met with J to put together a referral for rehabilitation which they are hoping to hear back from soon. J has also received medical input and is feeling a lot more positive about the future. Ryan is continuing to support him on his journey through the Oldham Drop-In.
