It's not just the BBC's Gareth Malone that see's the potential of people singing together.

Nick picks up the story.

Just recently in our New Life Group in HMP Forest Bank, I introduced song sheets for the first time for some of the songs we sing together. I noticed straight away that there was a huge difference in how those attending joined in with the singing. Everyone really appreciated having the words in front of them and they sang with much more confidence and gusto.

This then gave me the idea that we could perhaps form a small choir and share a couple of songs in one of the Sunday morning services. When I suggested this everyone agreed enthusiastically. I said that I would have a word with my colleagues in the chaplaincy team and see if we could make it happen.

I am sure that this will be possible, having helped with a similar singing group last Christmas. We would have to get more practice in but this has given the guys something to work towards.
