Reassured of their salvation while volunteering with Nourish...
Ryan who serves as the resident evangelist at our Nourish Food Club reassured two of our volunteers about their salvation this week.
Ryan tells the story.
I think it’s so important that people know for sure that they have been saved by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8).
A conversation started with two of the volunteers that help out on a Monday in the Food Club. I was talking about (John 3:16) and the unconditional love of our God, the conversation then turned to me asking them if they were assured of their salvation. There was doubt with both of them.
I took them on one side to show them what the Bible says about salvation. We looked at Acts 2:38 and saw that if they repent then they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We explored this further considering Matthew 5:28-30 where we saw that sin is sin, even if we 'think' it, then it’s still sin. They both seemed shocked to hear this. We found reassurance in Romans 10:9-10 that if they confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead then we would be saved.
Understanding all this, I then lead them in a prayer of salvation, recommitting their lives to the Lord Jesus. I then prayed for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
After we had finished praying one of them said that they felt lighter like something had lifted.
Ryan gave them both a bible and said that if they needed any more support with anything then we are here to help.
