Staff are being encouraged to rediscover the Chaplaincy service at Manchester Airport
The airport chaplaincy are seeking to re-establish contact with various people right across the whole complex such as airline staff, operational agents, Border Force, the Police, maintenance crews, shops and restaurants.
Because of the lockdown and its subsequent lifting, many of these organizations are now staffed with new people who are unaware of the fact that they can call upon the Airport Chaplaincy Team to help with the situations they face.
This was the case recently when we were called upon by Border Force to attend an interview with a minor who was claiming asylum from a North African country. I met with Border Force in Terminal Two and was taken through to the interview room. This was only a brief affair during which the young man's fingerprints were also taken, but because he was a minor, my presence as a chaplain was requested simply to be a witness.
Again, as is often the case these days with other organizations, the Border Force officers were pleasantly surprised to discover that they could call upon us, and they were very grateful for our support. Please pray that we can once again build up relationships with everyone and that we will get more opportunities to share the gospel message.
