Mary from Groundbreakers was interviewed by Scripture Union for their regular 95 News email, we are grateful for permission to reproduce the article below.
95 Community Spotlight
The 95 community is made up of thousands who've said 'yes' to the 95, spread right across England and Wales. But who are the people who make up this community? Today we find out more about Mary from Oldham.
Tell us a bit about you...
I'm married to Dave and we have three grown up children!
I work for Manchester City Mission and lead 'Groundbreakers'. What started in 2006 with two schools offering assemblies and lunch clubs has developed into us now going into over 50 schools across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, regularly seeing over 10,000 children each half-term...even through lockdown!
When did you become a Christian?
I was 9 years old and became a Christian through a church holiday club.
What does summer look like for you?
When I was younger, my dad introduced me to the stories of Jesus and I just loved listening to them. Then when I was 16, I went to Criccieth Holiday Club in Wales, the most beautiful place in the world, and now I get the honour of telling stories of Jesus to others each summer. It's a busy and energetic fortnight but I feel so privileged to share my faith!
Together with my husband, we now lead Criccieth Holiday Club and all three of our grown up kids are on team too! It's the highlight of our summer!
