Taken by surprise
Ryan, a member of the Operation Joy team, also serves in our Nourish Food Club, on Mondays and Thursdays. He is often looking to see if we can help people practically and spiritually. he's always looking for an opportunity to share the Gospel.
Ryan says, "Sometimes though God can completely surprise you, and fetch someone who is searching for answers."
Last week a young gentleman walked into the Windsor Christian Centre asking for a Bible, he was also asking questions about who God is. Ryan offered the gentleman a cup of tea after he had done some shopping. After they had done their shopping, the young man, his mum and his girlfriend came and sat down with Ryan.
Ryan says, "I wasted no time and began to witness to them about how Christ completely transformed my life, the young man and his family were all intrigued and said they have never heard anyone talk about God like this, they had never heard about having a relationship with God directly."
Ryan explained the Gospel to them; explaining the cross and the need for repentance, before talking about how God has a plan and purpose for our lives. All three of them wanted to know more about this God who wants to have a relationship with us, so Ryan went a little further and showed how the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Ryan felt like they were ready to make a commitment to God, and offered to lead them in a prayer of repentance, all three agreed and gave their life to Christ there and then.
They have said they are going to start coming to our New Life group, where Nick our Chaplin will be able to nurture them and direct them to a church.
