The true story of the Old Lady and the Motor-bike Thief

While I was conducting a Bible study group in one of the prisons I work in, one of the young men told me of an old lady who spoke to him in the past about Jesus.

N was in prison for motor-cycle crime (among other things). He said he and his friends used to steal motor-bikes and ride them around his local estate and that while he was doing this, the lady would often come out to talk with him. She would share the gospel with him and say that she was praying for him to come to know the Lord as his Saviour. He says that while in prison he has since made a decision to follow Christ and when he gets out he wants to turn over a new leaf

We then went on to discuss the difference between mere religion and true Christianity.

I told him that when he is released he should look for a solid, Bible-believing church, a place where they love the Lord Jesus and seek to follow Him in reality. I said that he needed to break with his old associations and get in with a good group of believers. I suggested that perhaps he could meet with this old lady again and ask her about her church because it sounds like she goes to the kind of place he needs to be part of. It would also encourage her to see the answer to her prayers.
