Chris has been volunteering at MCM for nearly five years...

Volunteers' Week takes place 1-7 June every year. Volunteers are an essential part of the work we do at Manchester City Mission. Could you volunteer to help one of our projects?

Chris first came into contact with Manchester City Mission as a guest at the Narrowgate Night Shelter. Whilst stay at the shelter he became a Christian and started volunteering with the team. After leaving the shelter and moving into his own accommodation he continued to volunteer at the night shelter.

Covid saw the closure of the night shelter but that wasn't the end of Chris' story. Manchester City Mission had to develop new projects and Chris volunteered again, this time to help with the Nourish Family Food Clubs that run at our headquarters building in Salford. Chris now also helps with the satellite Food Club at Spruce Court.

When asked why he volunteers Chris said, "Because I love it and Praise The Lord believe I am making a difference in people’s lives whilst helping, whether it be by talking to people or guiding people."

Asked what he would say to anyone thinking of volunteering with MCM, he said, "Do it!!! It’s fun and fulfilling."
