What a great day to be in a school delivering an assembly about my favourite character!!

Today is World Book Day… a fantastic day in primary schools across the land with children and teachers dressing up as their favourite book character.

Mary was in a school this morning delivering an assembly from her favourite book about her favourite character!!

I wonder if you can guess who the character is from the items in the picture?

Well, to give you some more clues, after a straightforward game of "Would you rather..." the assembly moves on with a game of Would you rather DECLARE or DENY? Two children are at the front of the assembly and have to say if they will declare or deny in answer to 5 questions!

What would you do?

Go on would you... DECLARE or DENY in answer to these questions;

Would you declare your name or deny your name?

Okay, that's not so hard but what about?

Would you declare what you say when your parents or carers are not around or deny?

(Editor: I'm not sure I'd want to declare on that one!)

Have you guessed who the assembly is about?

Yes, of course, it's Peter, who both declared and denied Jesus.

The assembly leaves children thinking about how, even though it can be difficult, it's important, to be honest, and to stand up for what is right, what we believe in, and for our friends.

How fortunate were the pupils in that school to have a Groundbreakers Assembly on World Book Day that was based on the greatest of all books!
