50 Groundbreakers Assemblies!
Now it’s time to move on…
It's a busy time for teachers and children at the end of the school year with sports days, school shows and concerts, not to mention preparing the Year 6 children to move on.
Change is not always easy and these last days in primary school are a mixture of excitement, sadness and a degree of anxiety about secondary school. The latest assembly from Groundbreakers reminds the Year 6 children that God will be with them as they move on and that if they choose to focus on the positive aspects of their move, things will look better.
"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change!"
Taking on the roles of Caleb, Joshua and Moses, the Year 6 children help me to tell the story of the spies being sent into the Promised land to see what they can see. Ten of the spies focus on the negative, the big scary people and the big strong cities, whereas Joshua and Caleb focus on how it will be good for them WHEN they get there, just as secondary school will be good for the Year 6 children once they arrive!
After one such assembly, a Year 6 boy came up to me and said, "I'll miss the Groundbreakers assemblies Mary!" It's amazing to think that the Year 6 children who are leaving will have heard over 50 Groundbreakers assemblies over their seven years in school so let's be praying that the stories heard will be remembered and that the seeds sown will be watered as they move onwards and upwards.
