Food for thought with Seven:Nine.

An update with our recently launched Holy Book Group.

People seemed keen to meet again after the first of our Holy Book Groups (HBG) in February: but life happens! The topic for our next discussion was agreed - ‘food’. The venue was available for us to use again, praise God. BUT Ramadan, Eid, school holidays and calendar clashes each took their turn in seeming to delay us from meeting again.

On the morning of the HBG #2 I had had several people say that they couldn’t make it after all, leaving only three of us - should we go ahead? It was so encouraging to finally come together again - eight of us, Muslims and Christians, sharing more from our Holy Books. The Quran’s text highlighted how nature - milk, honey and dates, demonstrates the presence of God to those who listen. We also read Paul’s letter to the Corinthians which says, ‘Food will not bring us close to God.’ So does it matter what we eat? As we munched on delicious baklava and grapes, we discussed how we can love our neighbour through the choices we make.
