Journey Into Salvation…

With On The Wing!

Recently I was about to leave the house for my shift at HMP Forest Bank when I suddenly realised I had not printed off the study I had intended to use in my morning Bible Group. It was too late to print it by this time, but then I noticed a stack of my favourite evangelism booklets “Journey Into Life” and the Lord impressed upon me to take those attending the group through this booklet. I followed my usual format, opening in prayer and singing a couple of songs with my guitar, then I handed out the pamphlets and took the men through them.

For those unfamiliar with “Journey Into Life” it is a very clear presentation of the gospel message. It explains what it means to be a true Christian. It deals with the issue of sin and why Jesus came. It speaks of the need for repentance and the need to receive Christ as Saviour and Lord. Then at the end it provides the reader with a simple prayer to give their life to the Lord.

For various security reasons, only two came to the group that day and I asked them if they had ever prayed to ask Jesus into their lives. They told me they regularly attended the chapel services but had never come to the point of committing their lives to the Lord. I asked if they wanted to in the meeting at that time and both of them said they did.

I then went ahead and led them to Christ and left them with more follow up literature. One of them told me he was being released the following day and he said he knew Christians on the outside and had a church in mind that he would visit.

The Lord obviously wanted to focus upon these two men, and He wanted me to put my prepared study to one side and go with “Journey Into Life” which resulted in these two coming to salvation. Please pray for them to go on with the Lord and become strong in Him, particularly the one who was released.
