Are You A Veggie?

It was all hands to the deck to clear out the old MCM building, protective gloves and old clothes were the theme of the day. But when Sarah paused for a cuppa, it became an opportunity to listen to the interesting ideas about the origins of human beings which were being shared emphatically by one of the volunteers who we’ll call ‘X’.

Are all faiths the same really? Is the bible reliable? X said they’d not read it but didn’t want to be influenced by any particular religion because he believed in archaeological evidence, not God. He wasn’t open to hearing Christian ideas at first but after a significant time of listening, Sarah shared why she believes the bible is authentic and talked about evidence found in the Dead Sea scrolls. This led to the retelling of the story of Esther (not found among the DDS). This is a favourite of Sarah’s, mainly due to having grown up singing along to Veggie Tales, where Esther is played by an animated spring onion! (Google it, if you’ve missed out!).

Esther is faced with a choice - to deny God and her people, or to risk her life to save them. The king had married her because of her beauty, he hadn’t asked her to visit for over a month. What would she do? X was captivated as he heard that she led three days of fasting and praying before going into the king’s presence uninvited.

Like Esther, God has put each one of us here for ‘such a time as this’. And we also get to choose; do we speak out in faith or try to save ourselves? What kind of vegetable are you?
