Seven:Nine Hosts An End Of Summer Term Trip…And

An Interesting Discussion Ensues!

At the end of term for the English class we celebrated with a walk around a lake on a hot summer’s day. Some students were nervous about travelling to a new place, while some of our more experienced ladies had been instrumental in planning the trip. The herons, ducks and seagulls were all enjoying the water and inspired a few of the group to cool their feet in the refreshing water. Then, as we admired the nature all around us we gathered to share a picnic meal. We’d been together for hours, then one person asked, “Do you still come to church on Sundays during the school holidays?” Sarah felt prompted by the Spirit to explain that Jesus had promised to send a helper to his followers after he died on the cross and rose into heaven. “Do you believe that Jesus will come back?” she asked again. “Yes, I do.” Sarah replied. “Then, everyone who follows him will go and live with him in heaven. Whether you’ve done good or bad things, he took the punishment for our sins when he died on the cross. There is a lady getting baptised at church on Sunday, in Islam, you wash each time before you pray but in Christianity we only need to get baptised once. Would you be interested to see it? ”One lady said “No, I am Muslim,” but maybe others were interested. After Jesus shared his last meal with his disciples he washed their feet. ‘“Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. ‘I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.’ (John 13:12 & 15). Praise God for the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with the English class students and pray for the Holy Spirit to water the seeds which have been sewn.
