Time For Tea?
Yes, with 7:9…
We all know that taking time to share with friends is important for us individually and for our communities. It’s good for our health, both mentally, physically and even spiritually.
Recently, hospitaliTEA has been a bit of a feature for 7:9. A visitor to our ladies English class led a tea tasting session. As we tried each brew she explained how different ingredients could be beneficial for people at various stages of life. It was a joy to sit together, sipping and chatting; conversations deepening to share about various ailments or worries - there were opportunities to offer comfort and prayer - relationships strengthened. As she poured the next infusion, the kindness in her manner was gently affirming and welcoming.
Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” NIV
On another occasion, over a delicious aromatic tea, a young Muslim man was able to ask significant questions about God’s nature, the purpose of our lives, and the practicalities of following Christ when there are so many who don’t. He was able to hear that the bible tells us that, just as at the first Passover, God saved those who had chosen to obey him, we also have a choice to make, by faith. Jesus had told his disciples that he was going to Jerusalem, that he would die but be raised to life again - the sin which separates us from God, has been paid for by his perfect sacrifice for us. Jesus asks us to make a choice to follow him.
Please pray that, like in the stories above, God will give you an opportunity to share hospitaliTEA with Muslims you know. “Let him lead them to the banquet hall and let his banner over them be love.” Song of Songs 2:4. NIV.
