Working One to One With Prisoners.

Part Three; Spontaneous Encounters.

Walking through the prison I will often come across men who simply want to engage

with me. The reasons are many and varied. I once saw a prisoner playing his guitar. I

asked if I could have a go, and now I have befriended him and have been teaching

him some chords and techniques. This has enabled me to gently share the love of

Christ with him.

On one memorable occasion a prisoner asked me how he could receive

Christ as his Saviour! He said his mum told him he needed to do this and so I gave

him the gospel, led him to Christ, providing him with a Bible and some follow up

literature.

Others stop me in order to debate spiritual matters, I relish these opportunities. I try

to answer questions and explain the gospel. I give my testimony and issue a

challenge for them to turn to Jesus.

I find many are open to the gospel message and who knows what God is doing in

their hearts?
