A Longer Read From On The Wing…
A Blank Page, Did God Do It?
In one of the prisons in which I work, I hold a weekly Bible study group. To break things up a little and add another dimension, I use my guitar and incorporate Scriptural songs as I share. During one such gathering the men expressed a desire to have word sheets for the songs. They said they enjoyed listening to me but would like to be able to sing along. I found it greatly encouraging that they were so invested, and I produced some booklets for this purpose. In the next gathering I handed out the booklets and a certain song was requested. As the lads were looking it up, I heard one of them gasp. I asked (N) what was wrong and his answer left me stunned (in a good way).
It seems I had misprinted one of the books and where the song should have been (N) found a blank sheet. He went on to explain that he had been attending a church just before he was arrested and one morning a lady in the congregation approached him saying God had given her a vision for him. She had seen a blank sheet of paper and God had told her to share with him that all his sins had been forgiven and wiped away because he had given his heart to Jesus!
He would still have to face the consequences for his actions before this world's penal system, but he now had a blank sheet before God because he was trusting in the righteousness of Christ his Saviour!
What had seemingly been a misprint on my part had actually turned out to be a wonderful confirmation from the Lord that his transgressions had been forgiven and cleansed in the blood of Jesus! In the words of the apostle Paul God was saying to (N)
You were dead because of your sins... Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14.
Thank God for such a wonderful salvation!
