Can You Get Your Eyes Tested At MCM Food Club?

Yes, Under ‘The Vision On The Go Scheme!’

It had been about four years since my last eye test. I had been deliberately putting off going back for another one due to the huge cost of my previous pair of glasses. I have a very complicated prescription requiring varifocals, and, due to sensitivity to light, I also need transitions - lenses that automatically darken in sunlight, block UV rays, and eliminate the need to carry a separate pair of prescription sunglasses. All this pushed the cost of my last glasses up to over £400. It took me over a year to clear that debt, and I couldn't afford a replacement pair even if my eyesight had deteriorated since my last test.

So, when attending the Manchester City Mission Food Club at Spruce Court this Wednesday, I was unexpectedly offered the opportunity to have a free eye test on the spot. I said yes. I'm glad I did. For I found out that I now have cataracts. That's not good news, but at least I know. And what transformed the experience was finding out that I wasn't just having a free eye test, I was also getting a free pair of new glasses under the Vision On The Go scheme!

I'm absolutely delighted. This is wonderful both in terms of the health of my eyes and the health of my personal finances. I can't thank Manchester City Mission enough for setting this up.
