New Life in Christ!

Last week in HMP Forest Bank, I held my usual Wednesday morning (New Life Group) Bible study. One of my chaplaincy colleagues had given it a mention during the previous Sunday morning chapel service and as a consequence I had six new attendees.

As the group session progressed, it came to light that three of them had never given their hearts to the Lord, they were hearing the gospel message for the first time. As I drew the meeting to a close I asked if anyone wanted to receive Christ as Saviour and Lord, and these three men responded and prayed to do so.

I gave them Bibles and a follow up booklet each and encouraged them to attend Chapel on Sundays and to return to this group next Wednesday.

They did return this week and brought another young man with them. He told me he was a believer. He said his Grandad was a preacher who spoke to him about the need to be born again, but he had never acted upon this asking the Lord into his life. I asked if he would like to do so now, and he said he did. I then prayed with him to receive Jesus also.

God is at work in the hearts of some of the men I come across in prisons and it is a joy and a great privilege to see them respond to the good news of salvation in Christ.
